Last Friday the Pirates traveled to Moriarty to take on the 4-0 Pintos but unfortunately they came back with a loss of 21-13.
On Saturday, September 16, the Pirates will take on Hope Christian in Albuquerque.
The Pirates are now 1-3 for the season after the loss against Pintos. The game started off quick with pirates getting on the board first with a 7-0 lead. But then the Pintos quickly came up with a pair of touchdowns to make the score 14-7 at halftime. In the beginning of the 2nd half both teams scored a touchdown and made the score 21-13. The last quarter of the game both teams the Pirates and the Pintos defenses were battling and neither team managed to score a touchdown so the Pintos took the win over the Pirates 21-13.
Juaquine Rivera, defensive end for the Pirates, said: “Defensively we did well on the line and so did the defense overall. Overall, our performance last weekend was not what we wanted and we are just getting prepared for this weekend against Hope.”
The Pirates have their eyes set for this weekend taking on the 2-2 Hope Christian Huskies on Saturday September 16, 2023 at 1pm. The Huskies are coming off a loss last week against the 3-1 Socorro Warriors. We will have the game recap for this weekend's game right here at the official GHS web site.
