GRANTS - On Tuesday, January 30, the Grants Lady Pirates and Pirates took on the Highland Hornets and both took a tough loss.
The 9th-ranked Pirates were away, and unfortunately lost to No. 1 Highland, 82-58, sending them to their fifth loss in their last six games. Grants is 13-8 overall after the loss and 1-2 in District 5-4A games.
The Lady Pirates were at home, and also took a loss to the Hornets, 39-31, in a close battle.
The Lady Pirates have dropped five in a row, and are also 0-3 in District games.
The Pirates and Lady Pirates will be back in action on Friday, February 2, as the Lady Pirates are away and Pirates are at home taking on the Belen Eagles in another district match up.
“I think Belen is such a big rival,” Grants head coach Landon Chavez said.
The Eagle boys are on 7-12 on the year they are also 0-2 in District games. The Lady Eagles are 7-11 overall and 1-1 in District play.
