Grants Cibola County Schools is pleased to welcome two newly elected members to the GCCS
Board of Education: Mr. Courtney Clawson and Ms. Monica Salazar. Both will be officially
sworn in on January 6th, 2026, marking the beginning of their formal service to the district.
Mr. Clawson and Ms. Salazar took early steps in their roles by attending the New Mexico
School Boards Association Annual Conference from December 4th–6th, 2025. There, they
were sworn in by the State of New Mexico on December 5th and began their initial
orientation into board roles and responsibilities. Alongside the current GCCS School Board
Team, they also started engaging in early conversations about vision, goals, and future
priorities for the district.
Both new members are GCCS parents and were elected by their local constituents, bringing
community-rooted perspectives, strong commitment, and a shared enthusiasm for the
future of Grants Cibola County Schools. They have expressed their readiness to lead, support,
and help guide GCCS into its next chapter.
